Picnic @ Hanging Rock Car meet

Mon Feb 15, 2010 1:30 am

Every year the Macedon Ranges & District Motor Club holds a 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' (in rural Victoria) event on the second Sunday of Feb- this year also being Valentine's Day.

We managed to get there for the first time, and as there seemed to be something for everyone, and there's a of of car enthusiasts on WIX, here's a batch of photos - more to come!

The 23rd Picnic - Its Done !
Sunday, 14 February 2010 20:03

Well the weather turned out to be perfect with clear skies and warm sunshine.

A very large crowd turned out to see several thousand display vehicles, sponsors and family entertainment across acres and acres of the reserve.

We will publish some photos of the event as soon as we can along with attendance numbers for the day.

On behalf of the Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club inc we thank everyone for their ongoing support and look forward to seeing you all in 2011.

There was a good selection of American and British metal, a good number of Aussie types of course, Rods, and daily drivers and a sprinkling of prestige types too.

Nice cross section of cars, rods, drivers, customs, & specialties, no rat rod craze there yet? #11 looks like a very well done clone of '789' using parts of 57/58/&59 Chevys and the vette rear glass blends the car together very well. #12 is looks like a Ford Windsor with a serious 'lung' in a T bucket, nice to see a Ford in a Ford after decades of 'me too' belly button 350/350 Chevys. I had to chuckle @ 22, the plate on my all black 2008 VICTORY VISION motorcycle is SYNSTER. Is #29 a HUMBER or SINGER?

Thank you!

No idea - it's not a Rod show (there are others more dedicated) and is aimed more that the general collector / enthusiast car. There's no concours prizes, for instance.

Uh, thanks! there were questions on another forum as to what it was.

It's a Wolseley. ;)

I've a few more I'll post up shortly.

Looking forward to seeing them.
'Rat rod' is the current street rod sub culture in the states, it's 'anti billet parts' no ultra chromed polished and seamless looks. Rough, primer, homemade looking, 'thrown together' type of look like rods were in the 40's and 50's-'when it runs, it's done' philosophy.
