Auction Feb 20 at Mercer Air Museum in Georgia?

Too bad they didn't take some of the money they have saved over the last 30+ years in taxes by having a "public access museum" on very valuable property next to an interstate highway, and keep up the airplanes with it. All of the paint jobs on the airplanes are/were original, just about all came from Dobbins AFB 116th TFW Georgia Air Guard and NAS Atlanta Navy Reserve.
I can't say too much though, the planes would have been scrapped long ago otherwise and I am a firm believer in using every loophole available too.

Has anyone been to Mercer lately? I'm just wondering if things look any different and if anything is left of the poor T-29 since she was in the process of being scrapped earlier this year.

It's been a few weeks since I was by there, but the T-33 and T-29 were still there as of then. The outer wing panels and tail of the T-29 were chopped off a while back, but whoever was doing that must have lost whatever energy they had for it.

The rest of the story is (apparently) that Mr. Mercer has passed and whatever is left is in an estate situation. I can't confirm that, but I believe it to be true. With all the aircraft that have been located there over the years, I'd love to rummage around in the Quonset hut located on site.

If anyone is interested, I'll find a reason to go up that way for work this week and see what's going on.
