i have lived in the same general area all my life and honestly cannot remember a winter this fcking cold ever. sioux city (just south of me) smashed its old record with 55 consecutive days below freezing before a brief spell above 32. now its been below 32 again for something like 18 days straight.

when the global warming alarmist start living like man made global wrming is real, i'll join in. but as long as they leave their 13,000 square foot mansions to fly off on 100+ private jets to a swank convention 1/3 way around the world where they discuss global warming while hundreds of limos idle outside, they can all fck off.

I don't like to post links in threads like these because people see bias in everything they don't agree with in the news even if the story is treated fairly.

But when a source known to slant coverage in one direction prints a story from the horses mouth contrary to the prevailing conventional wisdom, that in itself is newsworthy. The American media has steered well clear of "Climate gate" and the internal Mann inquiry (until he was found not to have altered results for political/financial reasons), the BBC has worked to fill that void.

They interviewed Phil Jones, one of the big three in the AGW debate (four if you count Gore) and his answers were not out of the AGW handbook. It gives me a glimmer of hope that the scientists can go back to conducting real science.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8511701.stm

The whole article is good, and fair, and worth the read for anyone interested. The two things that I found most interesting:
Quote:
But he agreed that two periods in recent times had experienced similar warming. And he agreed that the debate had not been settled over whether the Medieval Warm Period was warmer than the current period.

A smaller population with nowhere near the industrial capacity would have less impact than modern civiliazation, yet there were other recent warm periods.

And:
Quote:
He said many people had been made sceptical about climate change by the snow in the northern hemisphere - but they didn't realise that the satellite record from the University of Alabama in Huntsville showed it had been the warmest January since records began in 1979.

Modern reliable weather data for even the U.S. is only thirty years old and that coincides with the last cool period.

If you don't think the BBC is part of the anti-AGW crowd, the related stories at the upper right of the linked page may be of further interest.

We're down to about 2 inches of "climate change" at 44 degrees F with sunshine. 8)

The "climate change" turned into about 10 inches of mud in our barnyard, and we have to tromp through it at least twice a day. :x It does give you a sense of what the WWI boys on the western front went through....

We got another dusting of "climate change" last night. Three times so far in one season, I've never seen it like this before. This old world is sure heating up due to man-made green house gases....

Muddy,

That's what they want you to believe they'll accomplish. And it's a mis-representation of the opposing view as well.

That's Georgetown's airport where Devil Dog resides (you know, the one made famous in the news recently)

By the time we were flying, it was starting to warm up, but there was still a lot of snow on the ground.

I've just got to say that I have NEVER seen this much snow in my life!

FYI, if global warming is true, and if it means that Texas gets some snow, and a bit more rain, then I'm actually all for it.
