Ouch! Looks like that WAS a very nicely restored AC. No idea of the cost to rerestore, I'm sure that would take an in-depth survey to find just what state it is in. Jeff would say "Build a bonfire! Wood Burns Good!!!"

That's a shame, but scroll down to the burnt Cessna 195 on the list - a real heartbreaker for the owner  . What's left would fit in a pickup truck.

That would be worth throwing a bid on :drinkers:

Jeff,
You must be on Meds!
You gonna change it to a N3N or has there been a transformation of heart.

Or maybe "because of"? I can't imagine a Stearman needing more brake than you have available stock.

Is it me or does it seem that he had to work that a bit hard to get it to end up over on its back like that???

50K would be a good offer. Would be a fun project to do to see what all the excitement is about the airplane.

I dunno. I paid $30K for my Stearman and it was airworthy...

The pinch bolt on the W-670 crank is just a friction joint (no splines) so it needs to be inspected carefully for runout to make sure it hasn't twisted. The ball bearings are pretty fragile too.

A set of wings, an engine teardown, a new vertical, flying wires and struts would get you way inside out if you paid $50K for this I'm afraid.

I figure this Stearman is only worth about $15-20K if that. What I see has to be done to get this plane back into the air is a set of wings, an engine tear down, prop, rudder and just basically to check out the fuselage.

I'd say she's worth a bit more than that - I'd happily give her a new home for twenty grand. Looks like fairly typical "flipped Stearman" damage. Not saying that this is necessarily the case here, but unfortunately lots of people through the years have tried to salvage a ground loop with the brakes and the result is usually always this.

A case of sliding sideways and application of brakes that flips?
