Got mine and achary's this afternoon. It is a very cool issue, and some great pics. I love the shot of the NMUSAF B-25. It is a beauty with a special history. Once again I'd just like to thank all of the men and women who worked so hard to bring their airplanes from all over to be a part of this and make it happen. My hat is off to all of you.

Pat,

Just returned from a trip to NJ ... did you receive your copy yet? If not pm me the details (name, address etc.) and I will look into it on Thursday. While I am usually at the museum on Fridays, this week it will be Thursday.

Hey Jerry, I have not received the Journal as of yet. Sorry for the delay in responding but I have been shot down in flames with a bad sinus infection of late. When will you be headed over to the museum again?

Pat,

I won't be back untill next Friday. However, if you pm me the information regarding the membership, Name, Address, etc. Also there is a number on the back of the card, I can try to find out.

Looking at the back of my card, there is a toll free number 1-877-258-3910 along with an email address of afmffrnd@donet.com.

I would think it be best if you call the 800 number.

If you get no where, keep me posted.

One of the jabs at the bogus nose art currently in vogue on Tigercats got me thinking about this thread. How many of the B-25s participating in the reunion are correctly painted as actual wartime B-25s, with authentic nose art, and how many have bogus identities? I don't really know the answer, but my preliminary tally is:

Authentic:
Briefing Time
Panchito
Betty's Dream
Barbie III

Bogus:
Miss Mitchell
Yankee Warrior
Yellow Rose
Miss Hap
Wild Cargo
Maid in the Shade
Axis Nightmare

I don't know:
Pacific Prowler
Take-Off Time
Pacific Princess
Devil Dog
Yellow Rose
Show Me

I'd appreciate corrections to the list above; no doubt I've put some in the wrong box. Anyway it struck me that it is still rare to see a B-25 in a scheme that is truly authentic, nose to tail.

Miss Mitchell is DEFINATELY NOT bogus!!

You have the Yellow Rose in both the Bogus and I Don't Know box. The Rose should be in the Bogus box. The nose art concept dates back to 1977, when she was purchased from John Stokes, Sr., in San Marcos, and the transition back to a "J" was begun. The tail code 8U was an actual B-25, and we have painted the names of those who were the crew of 8U when she was lost in the mid-air at their stations.

Devil Dog also belongs in the Bogus box, not the I Don't Know one. Painted as a PBJ, the Dog is not an actual PBJ.

Maid in the Shade is in the Bogus box, but she belongs in the Authentic box. The AZ Wing did a lot of research on this former stable mate of the Yellow Rose and discovered her original markings and nose art...down to having the girl with blonde hair on one side and brunette on the other.

Thanks guys. Okay, Miss Mitchell goes in the authentic box. Good. I read somewhere that Maid in the Shade was so named because she spent so long in the hangar being restored, but if the scheme is also authentic, great. Any more that we can move out of I Don't Know are appreciated. I won't alter the post above, but will post the revised categories when all contributions are in.
