This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

It seems that the Kenosha Museum is now the Russell Military Museum and is actually in Illinois. Guess that is why the name change? Or was it always just over the line? Lots of hardware in the yard out back...in the snow!

They were kicked out of Kenosha under eminant domain. More city tax dollars available from yet another outlet mall.
A great collection if you like to look through a lot of junk with a few treasures thrown in- kind of like the Soplata collection or the old Victory Air Museum!

Cool!
What's the tilt-rotor thing in Russian markings? (appears to be a mockup) Looks like the "next generation prototype" seen in the closing scene of "The Defender."

Hello Chris
Now your back in my hometown of Kenosha or close to it. That gentleman has been collecting stuff long before I moved away from there. It amazes me everytime I go home how much bigger it gets.

He is currently up to 8 acres. It was really a great visit. When I went in there, the owner was there himself along with three budies, all of them were Vietnam Veterans. They knew more about that stuff, and exactly where everything was parked. They are working on restoration on a good deal of the stuff. The new building has a shop in the back. Pretty cool stuff. Anyone know what that big gray cube looking thing is?

Chris,
If you mean by gray cube the amphib it looks like an LVTP5A1. I believe the USS Alabama has a similar one.

Have they taken the OV-10 fuselage out of the box yet? I was told they hope to restore it to fly.

Chris, I live 15 minutes from this museum. If I kew you were in the area I could have met you there.

So is that all museum or a mix of storage for another purpose? Wow.
Let's get at least one T-38 inside before it ends up looking like the Mohawk ...
