Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Hi Mike,

That's because there wasn't a P-51 avatar to select from and I haven't made an avatar for my personal use yet ;^)

The Corsair is #1 in my book.

Somewhere behind:
B-17
F9F
A-6E
FB-111A
F9F Panther
B-52

So So many to choose from :?:

gotta be the mustang, but the b-17, corsair, p-61, and skyraider are next on the list. not a big jet fan, but i have to 'give it up' to the a-10 and a-6, they hit my soft spots!

Welcome Nathan,

Hmmm...a most interesting topic for one of your intitial postinsg here. It does make a person sit back and dream a moment. So, I guess I'll play along too

My Favorites:

P-47 Thunderbolt...Top Dog among them all nothing beats the brute force of this one
F7F Tigercat.....sleek streamlined lines...fast and powerful.
P-38 Lightning...classic futuristic Kelly Johnson all the way
F6F Hellcat...close second to the Thunderbolt for the same reasons
B-25 Mitchell...can anyone think of a better way to take friends to an airshow ?
PBY...Let's go fishing in STYLE
B-26 Marauder.....beauty and speed
Hawker SeaFury......Graceful British lines and RAW POWER

and for the jet folks out there:

Hawker Hunter....graceful
B-52...whats NOT to love about this one ?

I guess that's it...the list is long and full but I can't type them all here now can I ? And thinking about it makes my head explode

Paul

A-18 Shrike II
SBC-4 Helldiver
B-18A
B-17D
B-23 Dragon
B5N Kate
He-100

as well as:

B-32 Dominator
B-45 Tornado
XB-46
B-47 Stratojet
F2H-2 Banshee
C-118B Liftmaster (used to see 'em at NAS Glenview)

and many many more...

I must say the B-17
It was not only an easy plane to fly, but it was able to sustain must punishment.
It brought my fanny back home many times.
