Flight 97

We moved some helicopters to Portland, OR in Feb. 1987. We were told about a restaurant in McMinnville called Flight 97. We took the USAF pickup truck way out of the way on "Official Business" to eat. The cockpit and boomers location had plexiglass covering the area so you could still see it all. You boarded the aircraft through the control tower. Made for an interesting meal. I've heard the restaurant closed down and the KC-97 moved years ago. It was fun while it lasted.

Naw. It closed cuz everything ya ate on that ol' tanker plane gave ya too much gas.

Thanks. I recall reading that she flew out of there but I forgot where she went. Just glad the scrappers didn't get to her. I recall seeing the last few still being used by the AZ Guard and others taxing into the boneyard. Great sound.

I'd just like to know what they have in those wings to hold those 7,500 pound power packs on?

If you have one dead engine, and are in turbulence and experience 4 G's that is like hanging all 4 engines on that one mount point, just WOW.

The one in Colorado Springs is set up that way as well with a lot of photo's and great chow as well............

If I'm reading the synopsis on the website correctly, it says that the various "Guppy" aircraft were modified civilian Boeing 377 Stratocruisers. Is this correct? I had always just assumed the Guppies were modified C-97s.
