Cold War bombers

I had thought about this a while ago, with the fall of Russia and all of the hardware that has been imported here to the US. Has there been any thoughts to import and fly a Russian Bear on the airshow circut???? Think that would be a neat one to see.

I've had discussions about this before with people. The problem lies in the Bear is a strategic weapons platform and thus falls under all sorts of restrictions. I would love to see a bear in the air or even on static display with a B-52.

I've seen two..and that was plenty! Both times in the North atlantic. We could hear 'em droning about above the cloud deck...engines in pretty good sync. Then they flew over the ship while playing with the prop sync, talk about setting your teeth on edge!

The second flyby was made at deck level and several crewmen suffered belt failures while facing away from that Gawd-awfull noise :lol:

Another time up in the Fjords an IL-2 flew overhead...everybody thought it was a Norwegian P-3 until we saw the red star on the tail!

no...if sombody's gonna spend the dough flying something big like that get a B-36, B-47 or another B-29 or B-50 flying on the circut...

Nice thought, but the Soviet planes don't fall under the same restrictions the US planes do. Namely all survivors belong to the USAFM and cannot be released for flight purposes.

that would be cool......i'm sure the russkies would be more than cooperative...... they are selling their national treasures dating back from the czar era, such as faberge eggs with priceless jewels, ornaments etc, ww 2 stuff, flights in space to the space station, right down to vladmir putin's fillings etc. for the right rubles they will be game, trust me. putin's fillings is an exaggeration of course, but you get the idea. in the late 90's a millionaire warbird owner from northern ohio paid 20 grand for a 1 hour hop in the back seat of a mig 29 at the cleveland air show. the russians are selling their souls/ national treasures at an alarming rate to private collectors, enterprises etc, just to pay their bills. regards tovaritch (russian for friend) tom

Hqwzabout a Tu-4,The Soviet copy of the B-29?anyone have any idea how many exist..I know of the one at Moinino but are there any others?maybe in China?

There is at least one of the turbine versions preserved in China. There were talk some years ago of several more.

I would like to strap this rocket on for weekend commuting!

The Discovery Channel had a show on about Soviet Aircraft not too long ago. They dicussed the TU-4 and said that the one used for filming in a AirPark around Moscow (I believe) was the only one still existance.

I'd give a dollar for that A/C, maybe even a Euro or Pound!

Is that a lower turret I see on that B-25?

Is that a Russian Copy or a lend Lease a/c from the USA? Lets hope that the rumors of "everything has a price" be true and lets get that a/c somewhere safe and out of the weather..
