ME 109 at Thunder??

Was reading throgh the posts this morning and saw that their will be a ME 109 at Thunder over Michigan? Was looking at their web-site and dont see it mentioned in the list of aircraft at the show. Just wondering what one it will be ( Mr. Russell's? ) If someone can confirm this i would be most appreciative, I am making plans to attend, and would love to get some good photo's of a Me109

I spoke with the Russell Group yesterday and the ME 109 looks very good for Thunder Over Michigan.
There was some question of pilot availability but they seem to have that issue resolved.
By the way, they are a great group to work with and are very enthusiastic about coming.
Our web site should be updated shortly to reflect the 109 in the line-up.

oh man, that's exciting!!! the real thing!!!! will it be flying?? i've seen the spanish version countless times zzzzzzzzzzzzz snore snort never saw a real 109 airborne.

Saw this 109 fly back at Mr. Russell's air show with Walter Eichhorn at the controls. The sound of the DB601 is just incrediable, when it dives in the whisle of the supercharger is very noticable.

Ed's 109E is nothing short of fantastic however I'm over the 'negative' comments on Buchons. Are we trying to say that any 'licenced built' aircraft is 'not original'? My TBM was built by GM not Grumman - Mustangs built in Australia are not "real" Mustangs???? B-24's built by Ford are not "real" B-24's??? Sabres built in Canada and Australia are not "real Sabres"??? Get real chaps and enjoy the moments brought to you by some dedicated and hard working owners who are also "enthusiasts"...

ontario warbird.....wow excellent film footage!!! i viewed most of it. i'd swear you were right up their with em all, & you have a steady hand with the camera too!!! no coffee that day?? some amature aerial film footage is enough to make you 1st class work & website!! i strongly recommend the other wix boys & girls to check it out. best, tom

oscar duck... no such statement... the spanish 109, has markedly different characteristics lines wise from the power plant perspective. the spanish version is historically significant too, but saw no action in ww 2, i think a few made it to israel after the war, along with some real 109's (the irony of it all!!) your bird i would guess is line wise the same as the status quo, & certainly no less historically significant, just built under licence by a subcontractor. the avia version of the 109 has different lines & different charm from the real mcCoy. didn't mean to step on your toes. best, tom

Correct,the Ha1112 is significant in it's own right, but not to WW2. 109s were built by several contracters, not just Messerschmitt. Erla built them as did Wiener -Neustadt in Austria, but they were all built in wartime for the Luftwaffe and its allies.
The Buchon was built postwar in Spain for the Spanish AF and wouldn't it be nice to see one flying in the blue scheme they occasionally wore..instead of another 'Luftwaffe look alike'

Thunder A/C list has been updated with the 109 and a few other a/c

As it looks now the 109 will fly twice each day. Once in the morning battle with the four Thunderbolts, and again in the afternoon battle followed by a few passes for the crowd, maybe in formation with the thunderbolts.
