Wow, I see Oceana and Brunswick got added to the BRAC list.
I've never seen places added this late in the process. I wonder
if somewhere else got spared or they needed to find some more
bucks......

Oceana?

Are they on Crack!

Starting sound like the Pearl Harbor logic of parking all the A/C wing tip to wing tip.

Morons!

Now, just think for a minute, Tim.......................If we close all the CONUS bases, EXCEPT one on the left coast, one on the right coast and one on the Gulf Coast(got to have something tropical for a resort? ). Think of all the money we could save by putting ALL OUR TROOPS, SHIPS and AIRCRAFT TOGETHER! :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
And in the southern regions, NO HEATING OIL, so more kerosene for the jet boys and plenty of bunker oil for the swabbies! Train to your hearts delight! AND instead of forward deployment, just make ALL war missions 40+ hours! Of course, JUST ONE terrorist with JUST ONE jet-load of Jet-A could take care of a THIRD of the military..........................not to mention earthquakes on the left coast, and hurricanes on the south and right coasts. Where's ADC and SAC when you need them!

I hearby pass the soapbox to the next crackpot for venting purposes!

Oceana is hard to imagine unless they are moving them to cherry point

NAS Oceana has had a shadow cast down upon it lately in the news because of high Jet Noise. The Navy has tried endlesly to calm restless natives that live around the base but to no end. Although these people knew that the base was there when they bought their homes that doesn't stop them. The Navy has been looking for alternative places to conduct Hornet training but none of these plans have solidified. This might be a ploy to lose this base and bulid a new facility to hold the hornets away from complaining public. Just a thought.

Commission's final vote isn't until August and that goes to Pres. Bush on 9/8 and then to Congress from there. Anything could still happen at this point and its up to the constituency.
