Warbird Information Exchange

Back in the late 80s I had an aviation newsletter of some sort which showed a poor photo of a civilian T-28 in Canada. The a/c wore bogus Norwegian AF colors. I don't remember all the details, but I think it had the Canadian registration in large letter underneath the horizontal and Norwegian roundels on the fuselage. If I were to hazard a guess I'd say the aircraft was C-FMGI Bu140031 owned by Rolf Arne Yri (good Norwegian name there!) of Surrey, BC. If not it might have been the first C-GJMT 51-3626 (or possibly the second one Bu146255).

Does anyone remember this T-28? And maybe has a photo of it lurking around?

TJ... you're right, it was owned by Rolf. Rolf also owned a Harvard in similar markings which is now with the Canadian Museum of Flight in Langley, BC. Rolf was Norwegian, from Oslo I believe, and was a member of the Western Warbirds. Sadly he passed on a couple of years ago. He was also partner for a time in a Nanchang CJ-6. I have some pictures at home from the days of the Western Warbirds which include his T-28 and Harvard. I'll see what I can dig up for you.

Thanks warbirdcrew, that would be cool. Sorry to hear that he has passed. Would have been nice to have talked to a Norwegian expat with warbirds in his blood.
