I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me with this.

I'm trying to locate what a set of WWII Lockheed factory flightline coveralls would look like and be made of. I need to know what color and material they were made of and what form of company logo or writing might have been on them, both front and back.
Anybody have any idea where I could look?
Thanks.
Jerry

Well, Jerry, it's not in color; but if you really want authenticity...

I have a pair of white coveralls that are a button front I bought from All seasons uniforms. They ar what you need for the coveralls and then just put the stencile on.

I think the logo might have been red.

Thanks for the help.
Do you think the coveralls are white or a light tan?
The logo looks embroidered. Anybody know the colors?

We had Chance Vought ones made back in 2005 and they were an exact match. We did have an original sample to go by. Anybody have or know of one that may be on display in a museum?

The coveralls I have seen are from Glenn L. Martin and another with a non-specific embroidered "flight line" on the chest. I don't have photos. The Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum has the GLM ones. The coveralls were slightly different from each other, but both were made of white herringbone twill (AKA HBT). HBT gets its name from the pattern on the cloth and the way it is woven- it basically looks like this >>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>
in rows. The coveralls had a single pocket on the left breast with chrome rivetted buttons. To my knowledge, nobody is reproducing these, but they were very commonly used by all types of mechanics before WWII. This fabric is still made and used for various things including upholstery, but I have not seen any un-dyed cloth out there for sale.

Actually some where standard twill also, and YES ALL SEASON UNIFORMS on the web reproduce a coverall that's spot on for the twill. I have a set I use for my Southwest airways impression for the historical society.

Can you be a little more specific as to which company makes the "spot on for the twill" please? Is this the site you mean?

http://www.allseasonsuniforms.com/coveralls.htm

There are a lot of places to look on that site ... :?
