Warbird activity at Grissom Aeroplex

Was out for a meeting about the B-17, and was able to get to spend sometime around some new residents to the field. Soon to join will also be a couple of Migs and a T-33. All flyers.




Then next door to that is the Huey Museum. These two Huey helicopters have to be the nicest ones I have ever seen. Painted in their actual markings they are both Vietnam Veterans.

Are the jets owned by David van Liere (sp)? That looks like his Saeta.

I am not sure. They just showed up. I know that there is one owner, and that the Migs and T-33 are owned by yet a few others.

There used to be a SAETA located somewhere around KPAE years ago. Teeny tiny little thing and you knew when it was running as it made a T-37 seem to be hushed down. I remember watching it take off and using a great deal of the runway to get off in a demonstration of 'majestic' acceleration and then a leisuerly climbout

Judging by the tow bar, it looks like the UH-1s are fliers.

After seeing shots here of the recent Olympic Flight Museum airshow with their Hueys and OH-6...to say nothing of the HH-43...it looks like recent helicopter history is in good shape.

Now if we could get (or keep) some piston ships flying...H-19s, H-34s...maybe even a H-5..
