The B-25 "Yellow Rose" will be heading out to Tyler, Texas, on July 3rd, 2010. We will be at the HAAM static show, but selling rides and PX items. Later that day we will fly in Randy Ball's over-the-lake show, which starts at 6:30pm.

Mike, you all need to check into the Lancaster (KLNC) show in September, if the runway is open by then. I think you all could do some good there....

Thank for the suggestion Lynn, but I'm ahead of you on it! I spoke with Charlie at the wing staff conference about coming up.

Please do keep the suggestions coming though!

How is that going to work with the new restrictions at the airport?

What new restrictions? Charlie didn't mention them. They were planning on selling rides in the R4D too.

I went around the patch this morning and it looks the main runway should be up by next month... A blue V-tail tried to land on it this morning. A side note, the CAF was selling rides in there PT-17 this morning. They should have put a note on the board....

AA is flying bigger planes and Homeland Security placed new restrictions at the Tyler airport. Now an escort is needed whenever someone visiting HAMM wants to go out and look at the planes.

I was wondering how that would work if y'all opened your plane for tours and flights there.

I do love it when they protect us from ourselves! I don't know what Tyler and HAAM has in mind. Perhaps they will "fence" off the static area like they do at other places, like Midland? When my crew gets back I'll ask them how HAAM made it so the public could get up close and personal with the planes.

The way it was done in March with the B-17 and B-24, was that the entire area was roped off and monitored by HAAM volunteers. The Mustang and Huey were positioned outside of the ropes and anyone that either wanted to go out to the airplane or those that were flying on it, had to be escorted, again by a HAAM personnel. It sounded like a hassle at first, but we flew 19 Huey flights on Saturday alone, and it never hindered us in any shape, form, or fashion.

Mike, I think you'll find that you won't be hurt by it at all.

Thanks for the Tyler operations info! The fine folks at HAAM didn't mention anything about it. Possibly because they have everything worked out so it's a non-issue to them, but it's nice to have a heads-up as to what to expect! I've forwarded the info on to my crew.

Thanks again! This is what makes WIX so wonderful, the sharing of information!
