I am sick to my stomach telling you all this. If anyone happens to see a Nikon D70s Digital Camera with all the trimmings including a SanDisk 256 MB Ultra II CompactFlash card being sold at a pawn shop or ebay or whereever in Minnesota, please contact me. I also had if I remember correctly a 50-280mm lense in a black bag.

My wife called me tonight while I am working in Minneapolis and she is in Grand Rapids and told me that the new camera, I just purchased for going to Oshkosh was stolen at the park she took the kids to. I just bought the darn thing!!!

She realized that she left the camera and the diaper bag on the bench, was gone less than 5 minutes turned around in the van to get it and it was NO where to be found. She even said there was only kids at the park, and they were all standing around with nothing in their hands! POOF Gone!

Over $1000.00 down the drain. :( !!!!

Now I do not have a camera for Oshkosh. Bummer. IF anyone has a cheap one that is half way decent for sale please let me know. I was really looking forward to getting some great shots at the Airventure this year and add it to my website....of course, I had no insurance on it yet as it was 3 days old and not in my car or anything.

Again, if anyone has a used camera they want to get rid of dirt cheap before the Airventure, please contact me ASAP.

Thanks!

I can only imagine how you feel. Sorry for your loss. I could help you, since I own several cameras, but the problem is, that I am not home in Texas, otherwise, I would give you one of mine.

Since the best possible solution is ---another camera, why don't you try to buy a small digital, just for the time being? Maybe a couple of hundred dollars tops, and you will still be able to shoot some good photos. The Sony Cybershot 5.1 megapixels should have dropped in price a lot.

Since you must have a receipt for the camera, make sure that you contact your local authorities; you never know, they may be able to track it through a pawn shop.

Good luck.

If you have the receit and filed a police report you should file a claim with your homeowners insurance. A police report will also help you recover the camera if it turns up.

I would, but the fact is, I do not own my home at the time being, I rent, as I just moved about oh, a year or so ago back to Minnesota.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I was just so bummed last night, I had to let it out somewhere.

Believe it or not, some credit cards protect your purchases in some cases. I know that Amex has some theft/damage protection. You might want to contact the credit card company you used to see if they can help. Sorry to hear about your loss though... that's something I'm paranoid about with my gear!

Best of luck,
Richard

Do file a police report ASAP. The police do recover stolen items and if it is recovered, it will make it easier if there is a report to corroborate your loss and ease its return to you.

If I were you, I'd go round all my local camera stores and tell them about the loss. It's just possible that the thief might go shopping for a battery charger pretty soon and they can take the details and description of anyone who asks for one. They can tell the customer that they have to order one in and pass the details to the police.

Dear Paul,

I believe that I understand how you must be feeling with the loss of your camera.

May I make a suggestion? Why don't you try contacting the digital camera companies in the USA? Canon, Minolta, Fuji, Kodak, etc. and explain your situation, show them your web-page, the police report, etc. and ask them to donate to you a camera, in exchange for publicity in your web-site for their brand-name.

Wishing you good luck with your quest,

Saludos,

Tulio

Well, I have no hope of finding the camera.

I would like to ask the group to help replace the camera.

I am setting up a donations page on my website at www.warbird-central.com and will list all those who donate anything, even $1.00 to help me replace this camera.

I just recently started a new job, just moved to Minneapolis and now the loss of the camera, it is impossible for me to even think about replacing at this time.

With Oshkosh coming up, I guess I will have to stick to the Film type camera I have.

Thank you again.

Dude! I'm sorry your camera is gone with the wind but beging for donations to replace a camera because your wife had a brain fart is wrong. In the big scope of things your problem is very minor compared to others. There are people out of work or underemployed working 2 jobs just to keep the lights on. Suck it up and work some overtime, Sell some stuff on Ebay but don't Beg. Dude have some Pride! !
