Yes, or the one I started up several years ago. Is there a link to last week's? Didn't see it.

Thanks.

Does that jet have shoulder harness/belts etc?

I don't know, but I don't think it would change my mind, either.

I just had a HGU-55/P on my noggin' for nearly 5 hours, so I feel some qualification in saying that I don't see where wearing a helmet would help prevent facial injuries; broken nose and the like - the type of injuries you might sustain if you were slammed forward into a glareshield or instrument panel. Isn't this why many motorcycle helmets have chin guards and other frontal structure? An O2 mask and visor might help deflect some force, but I suspect the protection provided is less than you suspect.

Could a helmet save you? Sure. It's just that this is not the thread I'd choose to make that point.

There is an audio recording of the ATC transmissions on Avweb.

Helmets!? Generally executive transports are not the type needing this kind of safety equipment! If a safe approach had been flown there would be no need.

As for the facial injuries; The seat belts might not have held or the bodies may have pulled through them if the carbon nose didn't crush. That is some kind of strength and could have overloaded the belts or caused an anatomical distortion allowing the body past them.

The description was very good from the eye witness poster. It made it easy to understand the scenario. Hot sugar, right up to the impact. Talk about lucky.

Chris...

Those facial injuries could very easily be from loose objects in the cabin as well. If you have a buddy throw a set of Jepps at you, it'll probably leave a mark.

hmmmm...... if that is a hard landing, at what point does something begin to be classified as a crash? I'm glad it appears everyone is ok!

Accident vs incident rules. This is a total hull loss so this is no longer just a hard landing.

From a friend of Jack's, is it said that he has some broken facial bones, and his passenger has injuries to pelvis and some vertabrae. We hope both recover fully.

I was there having a "cold one" near the warbird flightline when it happened. Left for dinner and went back to see it where it stopped and it is facing 180 degrees North of it's original final approach on Runway 18R. We didn't know anything but a friend at dinner had two pics sent to him on his Ipad taken from the east side of the runways. One when he's on base and the second when he's on final. there is the Ford Trimotor in one frame and an orange V.W. beetle in both. When these come out, you'll see and know what happened.
Never met him but am a big fan of Mr. Roush. He's the guy that bought and put Yeager back in "his" Mustang and then bought another so Bud Anderson could fly "Old Crow" again. The warbird community does not have a bigger friend.
