Great shots Dave! You know I've been around CHAA too long when I can tell what Harvard it is in the straight-on shot.

Okay, what were those two US Navy planes that left early. Looked a bit like Hellcats, but not quite?

They'd be T-28C's from down Dunnville/Welland way. They had prior engagements and had to leave early but it was nice of them to drop in!

So I was the first to arrive this morning and was rewarded with some nice shooting opportunities:




I suppose being the 'guy on the tractor' has its advanages, as I also got to tow the CT-133 when it came in. Here's my view:


As I said before CHAA's three founding members were flown in by the CHAT boys and were part of a special 25th Anniversary ceremony.


And here's the crew trying to get the fuel pump on the Hurricane to work. No such luck...

There was also some derelict plane sitting around waiting for its engine to be removed tomorrow (if the rain holds out)

So I figured that the third time would be the charm when it came to our shows this summer, but it wasn't the case.
We had beautiful weather in Tillsonburg but it was crappy pretty much everywhere else!
This prevented the Tiger Boys, the Great War guys and some of the Dunnville planes from attending, but I don't blame them for staying at home.
Plans are in the works for next year and we are hopefully will have one BIG show instead of three smaller ones.
Not set in stone yet but it has a pretty good chance of happening.

We still have a flyday next Saturday as well as on September 11th with the Spit/Hurri possibly attending.
There is also the possibility of an October flyday to help with the backlog of crew flights (we can't call them backseat rides anymore )

Yes, the were T-28s. We were actually only expecting one but two showed up with anyone on the ramp knowing about it.

Nice shooting Dave C. Looks like Hadfield did a great job displaying the P-40. The Formation Team looked sharp as well, nice neat formations. You would figure with three events CHAA would get a break with the weather, especially this summer that has been pretty good on the weekends.

Shane we (Tigerboys) sure wish we could have gotten there.
We took of twice but each time had to turn back after about 10 miles. As compensation, we would like to come down some time for a visit and maybe get some members up for a circuit in the Fleet Finches etc.
Which day on the w/ends do the members usually come out ?
Once we have some cooler weather we'll come down.

Attended yesterday's event and felt sorry for the CHAA as they seem to be snake bit this summer when it comes to hosting events. All three summer events were held with less that weather conditions and to add insult to injury the Hurricane went u/s yesterday but this was made up for by Mr. Hadfield in the P-40.

Saw Shane sweating bullets working his backside off. I don't pretend to know alot about the CHAA but if Shane isn't the hardest working volunteer there then I don't know who is. This kid ( meant in a good way ) lives and breathes CHAA and it seems no matter where I travel if the Harvards are there, shane is too.

Good to touch Base with Dave C for the first time this year at a show.

Cam...sorry you boys couldn't make it. I have not been out to the airport to help out much this year as I have been pretty limited after shoulder surgery back in April but things are feeling pretty good now so you should be seeing my mug out there a bit more.

Anyway, great job by the CHAA and I am pleased to say my wallet was a bit thinner when I left there yesterday.

Well I sure had a great time. What a very fine group of people! No one could be more hospitable or friendly.

It's truly a privilege to be entrusted with an airplane like the P-40, and given the opportunity to display it.

Great fun, too, being given a clearance to "beat-up" the airfield!

PS -- Nice photos Dave C! I was given a limit of 75 degrees of bank, and I was curious to see how close I got, viewed from the ground.

That sounds like a great idea! It's Saturdays that we are at the airport. There'll be a bunch out this coming Saturday as well as on Sept 11th for the flydays, but if you want to come down some other day let either me or Ray know and we'll spread the word.

Ya know there were a whole bunch of people working just as hard if not harder at all three shows this year.
I just happened to be one of the more visible ones on the ramp. Glad you had a fun time.

Now there's talk of an open house/show in October to wrap up the season (except for Nov. 11th) in order for some of the no-shows to actually fly down. I'll find out more soon. Stay tuned!
