So if the EAA's Alum Overcast is back in the air before the show, are you going to try and shoot for 8- B-17s?

We talked to EAA about the possibility of bringing both "Fuddy Duddy" and "Aluminum Overcast" but once Alum Overcast is back flying Fuddy Duddy will go back home.....so it looks like just 7 B-17's

Oh well, "just" 7 B-17s isn't too bad.
A see a third P-47 was added to the list...so I won't feel so bad now about missing the same three that were there last year.
Wouldn't it be nice to see 7 B-17s in the air with several little friends flying alongside...perhaps that's a little too ambitious to hope for.

Well, if the timing's right, could one make the case that Willow Run *is* on the way home?

Just out of idle curiousity...what is the tentative itinerary for the flying portion of the show. It was quite the thrill to look out and see three B-17's leading us around the pattern at the last show...would be great to see even more up at once.

What a line up, as if 7 B-17s weren't enough.
How on Earth can I miss this show?

I was just perusing thru the aircraft list for Thunder and I noticed one of Jack Roush's p-51's is now named "Gentlemen Jim".

Is this a change from GGIII? Anyone with the story behind the change? Just curious.

"Gentleman Jim" is the new-built Malcolm-hooded P-51B using the ID of 43-12252 that crashed in Lake Louisa FL in November 1944...... Lt. Dean Gilmore perished in the crash.

Martin,
This is the first that I've heard of 43-12252's completion. WOW!

That's great news that his newest p-51 and a B model to boot will be present.
I noticed that GGIII is not currently on list and so I assumed this was a name change. Wonder if this was an oversight as the listing is for a P-51 "D". Hopefully all 3 will be there in August.
Can't wait!

Roush recently changed the name on his P-51D from Glamorous Glen III to Gentlemen Jim.
The C model is still many months away from flying.

Now I'm really confused.

I thought that Lt. Gilmore's ship was a P-51B-1-NA, serial # 43-12252 as stated on Martins site:

Simon, any particular reason for the name change?

I don't believe there is any particular reason that Mr. Roush changed the name of his P-51D.
We were asked to change the aircraft listing to reflect the new paint scheme that it will be wearing when it comes to Thunder Over Michigan.

I'm not sure where all this talk about Aluminum Overcast possibly making an apparence at the show came from because Aluminum Overcast isnt flying anywhere soon. It was on display at the 2005 Convention at Oshkosh but minus 3 engines, the ball turret and the chin turrett.

Here is a picture of Gentleman Jim... the repainted P-51D, GlennIII.
