First I've heard this - I thought it was a Navy (NAS Glenview) airframe; was it an A-25 that was taken over by the Navy? Baugher doesn't describe it that way.

This was a joke, because so many of the AAF aircraft (like SBD's) have been painted as Navy birds.

Oops, sorry. I'd just returned from Dublin and I was pretty bleary-eyed. I think the Yanks Air Force has an A-25 they're perpetually restoring, but the CAF bird is an SB2C. Duh on my part.

They just showed it on the news and it is on the shore with folks getting really close to it. I plan on going down tomorrow morning and I hope I can get close to take soem pics before she leaves and then I hope to go see her at her new home someday soon!

Way to go, Taras and crew!!

Anybody know what all that white paper is on the rear of the aircraft? Is that some sort of absorbent towels to soak in any fluids released or deflated airbags?

Judging from past recoveries, it's to sop up any oil/fuel which escapes the aircraft. The boom around the plane is also part of that effort.

Cheers,
Richard

All things considered from what we can see, she's in pretty awesome condition.
