The only other chance I see of my idea coming to reality is when Weeks has his B-24 restored, maybe he'll consider that paint scheme?
Either that or one of the various static Liberators may get a new paint job.
Or I recover, restore and fly my own B-24, but that one is a little farfetched.

Wikipedia indicates that at least two B-24J's are still in storage in India. Anyone know their fate?

44-44263 is on display at the Indian Air Force Museum but the location (or existence, it seems) of 44-44262 is a mystery from what I can tell.

HE 924 is one of the six Ex-IAF Liberators surviving in the world. The only two examples of the Liberator flying in the world are Ex-IAF aircraft. Scavenged from the scrapyards of Kanpur, the Liberators are a tribute to HAL and the technical airmen of the IAF. This picture also gives a clear view of the 4000 lb "Block buster" carried by the Canberra.
I've heard that the other Lib is in storage BUT nobody has ever provided photographic proof.

Does anyone know much about the B-24 in Canada that was impounded?
IIRC Mr. Riley recovered the fuselage from the crash site and it was impounded before he could return for the wings. It has sat in a container for 19 years and there was recent talk of it being transported back to Goose Bay? airport for future static resto assuming they get the bucks to get the wing.
As anyone EVER seen a picture of this B-24 either in situ or after recovery?

the indians keep all their old migs in open storage and i don't see any reason why they would keep the other J inside when they are displaying the other outdoors. hell, india's not that big, google earth it. actually, you could take a look around their AF installations on GM.

Several years ago I spent some time trolling around google earth at the site that was supposedly Poona AB, and there were no libs in sight. I would love to believe that there is still at least one or two sitting there. There is also a rumor of a B-24 in storage in China, possibly an aircraft that once transported Mao? I know that it is not at the big air museum there, but there have been some rumors running around that one is still at an air base somewhere in northern China.
Aren't rumors fun? Of course, if we are getting into remote possibilities the slew of significant B-24 remanants sitting in PNG would be worthy of discussion, especially as far as YAM is concerned.

I sure hope he is good with the Lybians then! It would be great to see that bird home, but I can't see it every flying...
