Does anyone else clean clecos and and what type of media do you use? I have a burr king vibrating cleaner and need to use media. I was goofing around and used some silica sand and about ruined a dozen. I currently have them in there with acetone and just the cleco themselfs and it is doing ok but I need something better. Any fine sand like material just clogs them up. I have lots of the babies. about 25 gallons worth

I occasionally soak them in lacquer thinner when required.

Faulty / bad clecoes slow you down so much (and makes my
blood pressure rise!) that I just toss one when it doesn't want
to play ball.

I don't have 25 gallons worth (that's a lot!) but I have a good
number of them.

Worse thing is I ordered a bunch of them from Aircraft Spruce
awhile ago (to replace bad ones / attrition) and a substantial
number of these "new" clecoes were defective (would bind-up
on attempted use) right out of the bag....

I just received a bunch from Brown Tool and so far no problems...they all have "kwik-loc" stamped on them. Much of what they are replacing are junk (have no name so who knows where they come from) or worn out, these are all Kwik-loc's, Cleco-loc's or Wedge-Locks.

Try Hopps #9 gun solvent cleaner, works on a lot of things.

Are these old ones with adhesives curred on them or fresh from the hole with fresh epoxies? I have always soaked them in acetone right away, then cleaned them after soaking, then bathed in spirits as a "lube". Stay pretty good. Once hardened...good luck.

Maybe use walnut shells or the media used for brass gun cartridges.
