Thanks Warbird,
Did not see when this thread first started. Thought it was something new. My question still stands as I am a member of the local CAF unit and I never saw the Corsair before Jerry bought it.

The Corsair was kept at McLellan's residence from 1985-1995. It was owned by he and William O'Keene. Scott Woods was associated with the Old Domiion Wing's C-60 Lodestar and didn't know about the F4U either until he actually made a trip to McClellan's house in 1989.

It was misidentified as BuNo.82611 for the longest time.

Rob,
Thanks. I know Scott, he and I served together back in the late 70's on the Indy. He was one of our COD crew. Last I heard, Scott was working up at the museum at Dulles. I need to get up there and see him some day soon.
I also know the Lodestar and have more then a few hours in it, between the seats.

Very cool :) Scott used to post here on WIX fairly regularly. Maybe he'll chime in here soon. I believe he actually acquired partial ownership in the F4U-1D in 1990 and helped out with some restorative work on the airframe before it was sold off to Yagen.

It is so cool to see this Corsair again after 30-odd years... it was one of my favorite things at the War Memorial Museum whenever my dad and mom would take me there, and as I live just down the street from the museum now, I've often wondered what became of the F4U. Now I know Jerry has it and is having it restored- which is just absolutely AWESOME news, because he doesn't half-a$$ anything. :)

Thanks so much for bringing this thread back from the abyss!
