Wow! What a great show! The wife and I drove 9 hours from Horsham, PA and it was totally worth it. Do they do this show every year? If so its on my list for next year. I got a little misty eyed at the sight of eight Flying Fortresses on the ramp at the same time. Gotta agree with Kalamazoo about the jets. At one point there were three Jugs waiting to take off and I was enjoying the sounds of their P&W's when a commercial jet liner pulled up next in line. It really ruined the moment but the MiG-17, FJ-4, and Jaguar were pretty neat. Oh what the hell I enjoy anything that flies. darn I had a great time!

i missed the entire thing. went to the dentist friday & he informed me that i needed 1600.00 worth of root canal, starting this tuesday. that put the kaybosh on it for me. i was sickly dissapointed. wanted to meet up with you guys etc. i talked to scott, i hope he conveyed my regards to all of you that met at the announcer's stand at 11a.m. maybe next year. it's a curse i swear.... last year, 2 days before the show my buddy's mom died, & i had no one else to go with then. thus i didn't attend, & last year was "bw" (before wix!!) next year come anything short of a nuke attack or a tsunami i'm going!!! lets see some pics guys!!!! best, tom

Hi all--

Very good show (again)...IMO Mr Russell's Messerschmitt stole the show, though eight Forts in the air at once will be hard to forget!

Also enjoyed the classic "blowtorches" (F-86, FJ-4, MiG-17, Alpha Jet), and the spirited A-10 demo too. But on reading what K'zoo Kid said about jets and (gulp) aerobats being added I loudly yelped "NO!" at the monitor. Yankee is our "local" Flying Legends...please, guys, keep it that way...!

Tom F--sorry you had to cancel at the 11th hour. Wondered how I had managed to miss you, given that I ran into about 20 other WIXers at one time or another Saturday. Guess the fact that you were stuck in Ohio had something to do with it!

The Alpha Jet is GM VP Bob Lutz' new mount, an ex-Luftwaffe example coded 41+14. Excepting the Patrouille de France many years ago at North Bay and the CNE, I'd never seen one in the air; quite an impressive little machine when low, close and fast...

Did Alan Walker end up flying the Bf-109?
It's good to hear that it was a fantastic safe show for everyone.

Yes, Alan was at the controls and did a great job. He had a blast and really enjoyed the show despite a minor complication. He flew the show with a British flare, especially on Sunday. Despite just getting home I have already posted one page of pics featuring the 109 and P-47s over the battle re-enactment.

This was a very impressive show. My first time crawling thru a B-17 (Sentimental Journy). Man was that thing cramped until you got past the radio compartment!! Not that I'm complaining as I loved every second of that walk thru!:D

A couple that I met drove up from TN with her father who served as a navigator on a B-17 in WWII. She commented that they drove all that way due to her father wanting to see 8 forts at one time. The father went for a ride in Yankee Lady and upon returning she asked him "how'd it go?". Her father replied "Great, but it's alot smaller then I remember!"


I personally loved the A-10 demo and thought that the Warthog driver put on quite a show! No doubt the 109 was a big hit and I actually got an opportunity to get up close and personal prior to the staff roping her off. The bf-109 is really quite small compared to her american contemporaries.

Hat's off to the many who's hard work provided an awesome display of air power history! Good Job!!

Thanks YAF Staff, CAP and all volunteers! This show will be hard to top.

It was my first show and I was very impressed...everyone I spoke with in the area was very friendly and chatty..

I loved the 109 especially as it sounds like a Merlin on Nitrous.....tasty

I hope to visit it again but perhaps this time I will not try to drive home after the show... 9hrs...we got home at 2am....yawn

My first show too.

We departed after the final B-17 flyover on Saturday and finally made it home by midnight! Great show and a much bigger crowd than I would have ever expected!

It was truly a sight to be seen with the 8 fort's taxiing into position on the runway!
