the JFK could be used as a museum. The US Navy would take out all reactors on the ship anyways,( just like the Nautilus.) The Navy isn't so much protecting the sub as much as taking radiation readings from it. The aft is sealed off anyways in that boat so i'm sure the same could be done on the carrier. Sure, it would be a huge task but it could be done. Plus the nautilus is next to the sub base, not in it.

The kennedy is a conventional carrier, No nuclear reactors to remove. Spent some time on this boat beofer I got out. I would like to see it turm into a museum, so that I can go back and visit my old shops.

Beach the JFK on a small inhabited island (off the coast of Maine or maybe west coast of FL) for use as a GA airport :D

How about wrapping her in hundreds of thousands of vacuum tubes and old lightbulbs.., flick giant master 'on' switch and then wait and see if she disappears!!!

p.s. be sure there are no people onboard.., we don't want them melting into the deck!

...or better yet.., painting her bleach bottle white and converting her to the ULTIMATE private yacht! To heck with having a yacht you can land a helicopter on..,those are a million a dozen.., now how many have one you can actually land your G8 on?

They can sell her for a decent price instead of donating her.,. and then put the money into the new USS Barack Hussain Obama!

Why not?
It is a huge empty area under a roof, a deck helicopters can land on, kitchens and dining rooms already exist, and it would be no real problem to put in off-the-shelf back up power generator and hook into the ships grid.

Real question, what are the chances for a disaster needing the space?

Seriously?

Did you read and hear what happened in the Super Dome in New Orleans? Those people trashed the living sugar out of that place.., they would do the same thing to this poor beast.

Sink her and let the fish have her.., an amazing reef for the next 80 years or so!
