I know theres already a thread for this so the moddys can combine it if you wish but I was wondering what the latest was on the Geneseo Groups B-23 that they dragged out of Midland?

Oh, I can promise you there's plenty of interest in the B-23 out here. I say go ahead and post up whenever you have so much as thought about it. :D

Perhaps Craig would allow someone to post some of the pics he took during the de-mating of the wings and fuselage in Midland.

Maybe with the centre section demated and all, some measurements can be taken to see if anything is interchangeable with the DC-3/ C-47. If there are some parts that can be swapped for airworthy, it might save a lot of money and make it a viable candidate for airworthiness someday.
It seems like in earlier discussions no one could quite reach a consensus about the design similarities in the DC-2, DC-3, C-47, B-18 and B-23.

Spend a little time visiting the third page of the Flagship Tulsa thread here. http://www.warbirdinformationexchange.o ... 3&start=30

After studying these photos and comparing them to the B-23 demate you'll see that there is little in common between a DC-3/C-47 and the Dragon as far as the fuselage attachment and the center section goes. As far as airworthy repair, that will be a BIG job to accomplish on this airplane as others have already noted.

Great photos, Craig, and I appreciate the airplane getting attention paid to her.

I wouldnt imagine that other than maybe some landing gear parts, much would be interchangable with the Gooney family as far as structural. But I'll bet that a lot of the systems such as hydraulic valves and actuators might be. Maybe some of the fuel and oil systems too. I used to have IP manual for a C47A. Let me see if I can dig it out. If I can, you're more than welcome to it so you can compare part numbers for possible commonality. (is that a word) :?
