fyi.....according to air & space smithsonian's latest magazine issue the b-29 in lake mead resting at 170 feet, well beyond the scuba rating of most divers is being marked as a public recreational dive site by the national park service. independent or private salvage looks slim as it's protected by the park service. how many of you are dive rated to enjoy the site??? i can just imagine the unsupervised vandalism that will take place. regards, tom

I have seen a few articles about the plane out here already. It has been vandalized since the discovery even given its fairly deep location. There are not many divers rated to go that deep.

Many Native American Tribes out here loath to put thier sacred sites on maps for "protection". Once the location is known, privacy and protection are gone!

it's re- damnediculous the stands & logic our brain fart govenment / u.s. navy take on certain issues, this one being historic to the aviation enthusiast. thank god the naval aviation museum has no jurisdiction on this 1!! wonder why the usaf doesn't cop the navy attitude on this rare 1 & tell the park rangers to !! the kee bird is toast, anybody else got the gps coordinates on any other 29's??? bad enough about the park service's choice, they should stick to smoky the bear & tree hugging. i ask you????? what segment of the warbird community has the scuba rating to go down to that depth to appreciate the artifact?? 1% of the population nation wide?? probably .0001 %!!!! maybe i'll buy a mini sub for a few million!! treasures such as this need to be salvaged & restored for the future generations. as i've stated if their are casualties on board, hands off, as it's a grave. this 1 is not. i swear.... government historical logic is shaking my confidence more & more regards, tom
