I got a request from a friend to ID this T-33A. Can anyone out there help me.
John - Here's a stumper for you. Storage facility somewhere between McDonough and Locust Grove, GA (SE of ATL), checked Coastal Computers and Baugher, any ideas which T-33 this is?

searched all the usual places too...aerial visuals has the coordinates for Google Earth:

33 23 33.15 N 84 08 16.78 W

and there are some notations on Google Earth as to it being there but no ID provided. Address is variously listed as McDonough or Blairsville, Georgia.

If you squint and hold your mouth just right you can seed the "...Air Force" wording on the tail. Maybe someone with photo enhancement skills or software can get a number as well. Wish you could do that at home like they always do in the movies and NSA/CIA-type shows. I've got some B-17 serial blocks on some nose art photos I'd like to read.

Just checked my well worn copy of fellow WIXer Andy Marden's "USA Military Out Of Service", which has an unbelievable wealth of info/serial numbers on all of the displayed aircraft in the U.S. and unfortunately even in this book Andy does not have a serial listed for it. :(

Sorry, I tried.

Steve

Saw that T-33 on our way to Florida in 2007. We got off of I-75 at the Mcdonough exit because of an accident that had traffic backed up for miles. We drove down 42/23 and I saw that T-33 along the side of the road as we went south. Tried to get the wife to stop, but we were trying to make good time while the kids were asleep. A little further south is a town call Juliette, which is where they filmed scenes for Fried Green Tomatoes. Tried to get her to stop there too, but we kept right on rollin. That was the best 50 miles of driving/sight seeing that we saw the whole trip from Michigan to Florida. Thats what happens when you get off the Freeway and drive on the back roads through small town USA.
