Nice shots. It's interesting that they have the P-38 in a well worn paint scheme instead of a factory fresh finish. I like it.
I hope to make it to the USAF museum this weekend. Hope the digital camera can compensate for the darker displays. I think I'll try some video also.

Will the video work any better in the dark?
Better bring a tripod!

I've shot a little video in some dark conditions and it seems to cope fairly well. If it does't work well I can always tape over it.

I have too ask this, I'm look at some of the pictures and My blood begins to boil. I love aircraft, I love walking around them and being able to see them. WHY on earth do these museums put them in the dark? I don't get it. I like going to air shows and being able to have some accuse to the A/C. I don't want to look at them from 100 yards away. I don't have a problem with them being roped off. Sorry A rant, I'll get of my soapbox now.

Hey Brad,
Forgot to ask you if the Olympia Corsair is going to retain the "door" for the back seat?
Great pics!

Is that Corsair an FG-1D? I forgot after looking at the a/c in the dark.

As I recall, the current plan is to leave the back door as is. I'm gonna talk to the boss this next weekend and see if I can't convince him to do away with it though!
Yes, the Corsair is an FG-1D, BuNo. 92436

I used to work at the Museum of Flight when I was in high school and college...it's nice to finally see them have some quality warbird displays.

Hacker,
The new Personal Courage wing is on of the better displays I've seen in a long time.

Brad,
Where is that crashed Thunderbird at now in your pictures?
Thank you,

Not far from where it crashed at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho.

Brad, thanks for the great pictures. What kind of camera did you use @KIAD? I have used my digital several times there and the lack of light has not done well for me so I plan to take my Nikon w/falsh next time.
Cheers,
Lynn

Hey Lynn,
I use a small digital camera, called the Cannon Elph PowerShot S200. I bought it because it's small and can be stashed in a flight suit pocket in a hurry if need be! I've owned two of them and they are great little cameras. The only complaint that I have is when you use the zoom and don't have an EXTREAMLY steady hand, the pictures come out blurry.
The flash on it isn't powerful enough to be of much use, but I usually turn it off anyhow. I've noticed in most museums with low light, no flash at all seems to make the pictures better.

Thanks Brad,
I used my Sony Cybershot there with little luck due to low light and the distance of the display. I'm gong to try my 35mm next time.
Cheers,
Lynn
