korean war at-6 texan / mosquito / early fac aircraft info

anybody got any poop / combat records, info on these at -6 mosquito ground attack / early fac (forward air control) aircraft. they were armed with two 50 calibers guns, light bombs, & did stellar work in a horrid combat environment. any currently restored to this version with all the t-6's surviving in the warbird community?? regards, tom

I beleive the Collings Foundation AT-6F is in full mosquito markings with all equiptment ie rockets rails with rockets installed.

I don't have much info on the airframe, but the T-6G model I have been participating in restoring for quite some time now had rocket racks on them as well as the hard points installed in the wings. The owner, my friend, considered going back with the rails but the original rails were to far gone to do anything with them. Consequently, we aren't putting them on. However, we have made no attempt to cover up or otherwise remove the wing hard points for the rails.

many thanks!! i'm sure there are templates, copies of plans of the rocket rails etc, somewhere out their with all the texans that luckily survived. perhaps usaf museum archives. my interest is in the fact that korea layed the early ground work for fac tactics & strategy, only to be re-enhanced over the decades to what we have now as vastly improved & affective planning that gets solid results, minimizes our casualties, while hobbling the enemy. regards, tom

For similar mission / configuration (Mosquito):

The Portuguese Air Force employed the T-6s as armed FACs in Angola and Mozambique.

The Congolese under Mose Tshombe, also used armed T-6s (flown if I am not mistaken, by amongst others, Jerry Puren).

Not 100% sure, but didn't the Egyptians also operated an armed version (rockets, bombs) of the T-6?

A locally modified version, in Honduras, had a bomb-bay and bomb-doors mounted on the belly of at least one of their T-6s.

Tom, there is a decent amount of info on the Mosquito on the USAF museum website.
