Dear Wiixers

Monday we will start a little project around here of taking an Gnome Omega rotary engine apart and measuring it for doing a solid 3D model of it. I went and bought a digital caliper today and then remembered of posting something here, maybe some of the people around have some piece of advice before the hands get full of grease and oil. I'm thinking especially if there is something I shouldn't forget when taking the measuraments...

(edit: to add that the purpose is also to use the measurements to build a replica, later)

Wasn't there a posting about 18 months ago from Newzeland dealing with the reproduction of a GNOME including doing all the drawings?

I'm in contact with another group doing the same endeaveour... they just secured access to an engine also.

Thanks Elwyn, I was familiar with that (but I forgot about it, I must admit). It seems wonderfull what they did, really. Truly amazing.

Hadn't realised that one of 'our' (the Australian Flying Corps - AFC) Boxkite Gnomes survived in the Museum Victoria collection, until I searched around your post. Do you want me to see if I can get access to it?
