One of the merely eleven YO-3A built by Lockheed that was languishing and deteriorating in the open on the apron at the Skagit County Airport near Burlington, Washington, has a new home. The rare plane is now the charge of the Museum of Flight in Seattle and has been moved to the Museum’s Restoration Center at Paine Field. Restoration efforts began almost immediately on the homely but cute little Viet Nam veteran. The photos below show how the Quiet Observation Aircraft looked in 2008 and how it appeared at the beginning of its new phase of life this week.

I believe that's the one that was based @ Auburn (WA) Muni and then @ KBFI years ago, in fact, just stumbled on a photo I took of it while in front of it's hanger @ KBFI over 30 years ago. The then owner had a cardboard sign propped up against the fuselage that had written in black marker,
"yes"
"no"
"too much'
"like a rock"
"a sauna"
and a few other direct answers to questions he must have gotten four thousand times.

Good to see this one saved and from the looks of it, just in time too!
