Exciting news about Yagen's Mosquito, KA114:

Of particular note is this stunning statement:

"KA114 is expected to fly by Easter (2011), and if all goes well will make its debut in the Ardmore Air Show. Yagen would next like to send the Mosquito on a summer tour of British air shows as a salute to the Mosquito’s English heritage. By fall the aircraft will return to North America permanently and be based at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach."

Awesome, the Mossie is one of my favorite planes and now one of my dreams of seeing it fly will come true!

Brilliant, just brilliant!

Another great reason to be at Duxford next summer....

That's awesome! What a cool idea.

In that article it said that the Mosquito was brought to the Canadian Museum of Flight (CMF), but it should be noted that it was never owned by the CMF. Ed Zalesky was always the owner of the airplane, but like many of his other airplanes, it was stored at the CMF home-site (Which was originally the Zalesky farm).

Of course, there was some serious confusion and misunderstanding about the "proper" ownership of the airplane and some people thought that it should have belonged to the CMF. Whatever is or was the case, it doesn't matter anymore. It's too bad. It would have been pretty neat for the CMF to own a Mosquito, but I am almost certain that the airplane would never have been restored if with the CMF. The CMF simply didn't and still doesn't have the resources to do such a restoration.

I am happy to see Jerry Yagen with the Mossie, and even happier to see what he's doing with it.

Once Bob Jens gets his flying, I think they should have a Mossie meet in North America. Perhaps in Edmonton along side their static Mosquito, or in Ottawa at the National Collection similar to the Lizzie meet earlier this year. And of course there are some Mosquitoes in the US they could visit too.

Ya never know.

Wow! This is too cool! I NEVER thought I'd get to see a Mosquito in the air period, especially given the complexity of the wooden structure. My hat's off to Glyn Powell for coming up with the new fuselages, and of course Fighter Factory for getting the rest of the aircraft together. What a great engineering feat. This has got to be one of the most exciting restorations out there. I'm with Dave on this one, once it gets to North America there needs to be some sort of Mossie meet.

In other news, it looks like I need to start a pop-can drive to fund a trip to Duxford next year... and if that doesn't work, quit college or sell all my possessions.

It will hopefully debut at Classic Fighters 2011, not Ardmore. If completed it should join an Anson, FW190A-8/N and several others types from WWI, WW2 and the years inbetween

All credit to Jerry Yagen's vision and generosity, and, of course, those working to make it happen.

Quite, Dave. And not just 'an Anson' but the first wartime version to fly since - I think - the Skyfame example, now at DX, was grounded in the 70s or 80s. In other words, longer than we've been without a Mosquito.

Both types will be welcome returns to the air, and both types of major significance to all Commonwealth countries.

Of course Omaka's probably about the same accessibility as DX from Kalamazoo - a tough choice, but I know where I'll be!
