This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Hello all'
This past monday I was in Whittier,Ca. visiting my kids,I happened to be outside talking with their neighbor ,who just happens to be an 89 year old WWII vet.He saw action in the European theatre. As we were talking I heard the unmistakable rumble of Radial engines.I looked up and lo and behold there was a B-25 really moving along at quite a speed, headed east in the direction of Chino.I pointed it out to my vet friend and he was rather surprised. He didnt think that any of them flew anymore. We both got quite a chuckle out of it .anyone know Who,What, where?it was really hauling along! thanks Tim.

Well what a coincidence. I'm in Whittier also. That was I think POF's B-25. I saw it too and it went right over my house. I was in the middle of the drudgery of doing taxes, so that made for a pleasant break.

The Hawthorne Air Show was Saturday the 13th. I attended, and POF's B-25 was there. I guess it left Monday to go home.

Do they still have the P-51/B-25 thing in Hawthorne? I went to that event in 1990 with Elmer and Bret Wards Pioneer Aero Service gang. "Man O'War" spends it time there now, doesn't it?

T J Johansen,
If you mean by the P-51/B-25 thing, a formation pass with a B-25 & P-51, no that did not happen. The show was basically a static show.
And I think "Man O'War" is still based in Chino.

No, in 90 they had a big thing with Mustangs and Mitchells flying over the majority of LAs many airports, including LAX! And they were based out of Hawthorne for the weekend. It was very impressive seeing the formation going overhead the International airport from our position at Hawthorne. Guess the passengers in the terminal wondered what was happening. Then they had the same kind of thing in Santa Maria a little later. IIRC they had similar venues at Hawthorne later as well!
Man O'War was on loan to western museum of something.... and as far as I know has not returned. Bruce Guberman is the guy who's been flying it.

Man I moved to another part of whittier, where I used to live we never had warbirds flying over head, just airliners. Just saw Chino's Skyraider returning from Hawthorne.

T J Johansen,
Friday the 12th was the arrivals day for the show. I saw "Man O'War" fly in for the show. Although it still could be on loan to the Western Museum of Flight.

JohnH,
Where I live I have warbirds fly over my house all the time. I really enjoy it.

Small correction at the other location, on my birthday in 2002, (my first on dry land in 9 years) A P-51 (Either Elmer's or one of POF's) flew over when I was still in bed although awake. Now that was totally cool!!!!!!!!!!
