I had spent the entire morning walking around and taking photos of the static aircraft. A nice sunny day, warbirds and warplnes, I was in my glory. By the time I was done it was well into lunch. My ticket allowed me access to a tent where food and drink were provided. I went in, helped myself to a nice lunch and looked for a table. Since I was late to lunch there was only one table left. I went over and sat down alone at a table that seated about 8. It wasn't long before one of the hostesses asked if she could seat a party with me. I just about fell over when she brought this gentlemen over along with his friends...

...So there I was, having lunch with Bud Anderson! Now is that cool or what? That is a day I will never forget.

I left the show a bit early during the F-22 demo to beat the traffic. It worked out and I was able to find this F-105 quickly...

After the leaving the medical center I headed south for Ione. I was hoping to spot the B-23, but I came across this T-33 first...

Does anyone know who the owner is? Does anyone have any ID info for this T-33? It is very cool having your own gate guard at your gate. It is displayed and the end of a long gated driveway.

Not far away from the T-33 is the Saunders facility, but this is a private airport and nothing here is accessible to the public. The best I could do was rest my long lens on a fence and get a shot of the B-23 from a long distance...

I tried to schedule a visit to the museum in Sacramento but I was not able to arrange things so I could visit during museum hours. I was only able to take pictures through the chain link fence. Unfortunately the chain link was a much more narrow link than I have seen bere, fortunately I was carrying a small point-and-shoot for just such an emergency. I apologize for the poor quality of the photos, but they were the best I could do with what I had to work with at the time...

Wow Mike...good stuff! Really neat to see the old IVA (Al Rubin and co) Beech C-45 among the airshow shots too. Wondered where that bird had gone. I think it was the only flyer ever to be part of that fleet.

I know what you mean. Nice weather and airplanes. Other than chocolate and peanut butter, there isn't a pair that goes together better. It has been ice raining here for an hour, and a snow storm is on the way. Groan....

You never fail to impress me with how you can make these historical connections Steve! Do you have any shots of it when it was in Markham? Could you upload one or two to the dossier?

It was intense. My trips were planned from sunrise to sunset. Go, go, go... I usually prefer relaxing vacations, but with the expense I wanted to make the most of it.

I can't say for sure, but it may be one of the airframes listed here...

I had a good time at dinner as well. Good company, good discussions. I got permission in principle from the boss to make a return trip. I have some cash set aside for it. If I can maintain employment here the trip is on.

BTW... Still putting the trip photos together. I am working on Day 3 when I have a spare few minutes here or there. Look for more posts coming soon.
