This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

So who got what warbird related presents for X-mas? I'll start the thread with what I have gotten so far.....from my friend DJ Price here in Greeley (nephew of David Price...yes, THAT David Price)....the WWII in Color 5 disc collection from the History channel.....and from a friend in Australia (Andyinwestoz on the forums here) A Temora aviation museum Coffee cup and some refrigerator magnets and patches from the museum....really lit up my day! Back in July I sent him a tin cup from Tincup, Colorado as he used to work in the mining field and my father had mined for gold back in the 40's up in Tincup...
Anyone else?

Well, I'd say, to borrow a hockey phrase, 'He shoots....He Scores!" on that gift!

I got my present early, I got a wonderful crew to work with me getting the Corsair restored. Having my health and the best darn crew this side of the north pole is all I want or need.

My aviation Christmas presents came earlier in December. The first one was watching B-17G
Chuckie take to the air again after being down for over 2-1/2 years. The second one was my air-to-air photo shoot with
Chuckie. That was one of the high points of my life!
To my Christian friends, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
To my Jewish friends, HAPPY HANUKKAH!
Cheers,

I had the honor of flying on the B-17 Sentimental Journey a few months back. As a Christmas gift my Airport Manager bought me a flight jacket with my name on it, and is all decked out with the SJ flight crew stuff all on it. It is sweet!

This has been an aviation filled early Christmas for my little warbird:
Finally got in a hangar Dec 15th.
Requisite new non-portable tow bar to get plane in said hangar. <now if I can only learn to tug it with an antique tractor instead of a golf cart

>
New 496 to replace very old 196 and to find weather and destination.
Got to work on a much bigger warbirdy - A-26. We got great compression checks and engines fired up beautifully, taxied great and the brakes held. Was kissed by said plane....crease in head from corner of gear door and a bunch on oil in hair and on clothes. Ever seen black oil streaks in long blonde hair....LOL Well it amused the rest of the crew who kept wiping it out with even dirtier rags

Hopefully next step is the ferry flight to Nelson's.
Life is good.
Merry Christmas to all and wishing for a very Happy and Prosperous New Year to all the WIXers.

Three nice books so far.
The best is Smithsonian, National Air & Space Museum, an autobiography. Looks like a fantastic read. I cant wait to get started.
I also received American Military Aircraft, a history of innovation, and Classic Military Aircraft, the worlds fighting aircraft 1914-1945. Lots of nice images I've never seen before.
Merry Christmas everyone,

My book collection was enhanced this Xmas with a book on the Spitfire by Jonathan Glancey...while he seems to be very knowledgeable on that particular plane, his knowledge of American naval fighters seems to be less impressive.....he refers to the 'Grumman F6F Hellcat and Vought F4F Corsair' as being the best American naval fighters of the war...
