I did post this in the Gone West page, but felt her passing should not be overlooked

Geraldine Doyle was the woman who's portrait was used in the "Rosie the Riveter" posters.

God Speed and thanks to you and your sister "Riveters" for your contribution.

All of the "Rosies" are owed a debt that, can not only never be repaid, but is almost difficult to comprehend. One of the "We Can Do it!" metal, Rosie signs hangs on a door in my shop, just off my workbench, and once in awhile I'll have to explain to a visitor what it means and why it's there. It's amazing to think of the organization and the training that it took to train all of those people, and to train them from, in some cases, zero.

"This is called a screwdriver..." etc.

In my rivet stash I have AD rivets that are anodized red, blue, purple, gray, orange, even black. Maybe this a myth, but I've been told that sometimes they were color coded for the girls in the factories. Sort of a "All these rivets for here, use the red ones. All these ones over here, use the purple ones", etc. Has anybody ever heard this?

Dan

it's very possible that some company could have done that to save some time.
