Hope somebody can help a couple of crazy Brits.

I'm desparate for any information on the BE-2c replica that flew in the USA in the 1970s with the Flying Circus Aerodrome at Bealeton, Virginia. I haven't been able to find anything so far on the operation, which seems to not have made it into the next decade.

Neither for that matter did the BE-2c -well almost. It got crashed en-route to Oshkosh in 1977 - and we've just started restoring the remains at Sywell in England, where it was first built in 1969.

Any info on The Circus or the aeroplane would be gratefully received!

The Flying Circus is still alive and well at Bealton. I know a few of the guys there. If you'd like me to put you in touch with them, e-mail me your own e-mail address.

Cheers,
Richard

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the response. I've now got to balance spending money on the aeroplane, with an increasing urge to visit Bealeton before the year's out!

If anyone has any photos of the BE-2 when it was flying with the Circus, we'd love to take a look at them!

By coincidence, I just took my family to that show for the first time this past Sunday.

There was a very nice trio of PT-17's, a Piper L-4, and some other biplanes that I didn't recognize (little rusty on my aircraft ID). They put on a nice, short show and the crowd isn't too bad. My little boy liked the "old farmer in the runaway plane" act very much.

Pretty country around there. I wonder how much longer until it's all townhomes and strip malls like the rest of Northern VA.

You wo't believe it, but those displays used to be organised by Charles Boddington, the guy who built the BE-2c replica. I'm working with his son Matt, on the restoration!
