This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

What WW2 Restorations have regularly updated websites and can be followed along?
Off the top of my head i can think of "Dottie Mae". Any others?

Although the phrase "regularly updated" is about as subjective as it gets, I think that American Aero Services does a pretty decent job with their projects (other than I wish the updates were every other day or so). The A-36 for example:

.
I remember a great guy who detailed his conversion of an LB30 back to a B24A online at a warbird forum called WIX.

Shame their repainting is so inaccurate on the outside

I think it looks pretty good. What is wrong with it?

Look at the November update PDF page 8. The font is VERY different (check the "of"), and some words are not even on the same line as the original ("in" on the tail). With such good original pictures it should not be too hard to repaint it as original.

I noticed that myself. Not sure why they aren't following the original lettering as people will pick-up on the details when the displays are set-up near the plane (picture comparison). Overall, they are doing a fantastic job on a plane that's been sitting for decades. Can't wait to see it finished...

I typed in Google the word "restoration" and then just put my favorite planes names after restoration. I don't think it is exactly what you are looking for but it will start the search. I love watching these craftsmen take a piece of junk and turn it into a work of flying art. Projects like the P-61 are kind of frustrating because long periods of time go in between updates. But it is kind of hard to complain when it is not my money doing the restoration, running the website, taking the pictures, posting the latest nut/bolt combo. I think my favorite was Gary's restoration of the B-24A. I couldn't wait to see what the CAF crew was going to post next. Good luck in your search.

Gary's was first rate.
When we get really moving on the B-17 and the C-47 in the spring we plan on posting a good bit, but I think that Gary's will just always be the coolest.

I see what you mean. The nose looks pretty good, the fuselage is off a bit, however it is still just so great to see this B-17 out of storage.

I just want to add a comment, I don't think we will ever see a play by play description of progress, as we saw from Gary. The man put his heart in his work, & was kind enough to share it with us, not for advertisement to sell his skills, but to merely share his experience with those that were interested.
I envy those, that have the patience, skill, dedication, & vision to restore these aircraft. Where would we be without the likes of people like Gary, Nelson Ezell, John Lane, etc....

Indeed!
And Gary will always be the best. Never has someone I never met in real life influenced me so much.

I think they may have put more stock in the provenance of who was doing the lettering than the precise replication of the original paint
