Hey Scott, since I think you mentioned something about your enjoyment of warbirds & women (although I'm not sure!) and maybe not in that order, maybe you need to check out:

I drive one of my Jeeps...

I have a 2004 Laredo Grand Cherokee and a 1944 Willys MB.

Either my 1944 or my 2004, whatever suits me at the time. The Willys MB was delivered to the Ordnance Corps on 8-28-44, and is now nearing it's 60th "birthday."

I don't really drive my Willys very much, as they require SO much maintenance just to keep running, much like an airplane. You just don't hope in it and take off anytime you feel like. It's mostly for parades, airshows, displays, re-enactments, etc...

Image

For some time, it was painted as a 91st BG Jeep (323rd Sq), but I found that I got tired wearing my HBT coveralls or flight gear at every event, so now it's painted as an Airborne Jeep. That way it doesn't look odd with all my "weapons of comical destruction" sitting in the back.

I bought my Laredo recently, and the Jeep dealer cracked me up when he was trying to show us the new "Willys," model Jeep (which is just a Cherokee with green paint). I just laughed at him...

The funniest thing was that for some time, I had a pedestal-mounted .30 caliber M1919A4 MG in the back, and when going to displays and shows (when I used to drive it everywhere I'd go, instead of trailering it long distances now), no cop EVER asked if it was live or not, and there was a (dummy) belt of ammo loaded into it! I was once stopped by a state patrol officer, and he was asking about the 1942 license plate, thinking it wasn't correct. Showed him the title, he asked some questions about the Jeep, and looking back on it now, I realize he just wanted an excuse to look at it. But he never asked about the large machine gun sitting up top!

Oh, the wife has a Honda CRX, but I don't talk about that much. JEEPs, MAN! It's all about the Jeeps!

I was driving around one day with my 1919A4 mounted on my jeep and I stopped for lunch at the Weathervane. As I was waiting for my dinner three cruisers came in the yard and cops started bailing out. Someone had apperently called saying some nut was driving around town with a gun on his car or some such non sense. I'll never know for sure because the first cop to the jeep started laughing so hard I thought he was going to piss himself. As the others came charging up he was waving them back. The stood there admiring the girl for a few minutes and then left. I have never had trouble with police officers in regards to my jeep or any of my other antiques that I have owned over the years. Just curiosty and good cheer.

By the guest way, nice jeep.

Oops, that Jeep post was mine.
Here's some other pics:

I had my Jeep in the Centralia, WA parade. It ran well, but I had forgotten how low an oil pressure my MB has once it's been idling for over an hour (around 10PSI). Beforehand, we had a display in the local park for about 3 hours.
The parade itself was painfully start-and-stop, but our group won 1st place for historical entry, beating out the local veteran's museum (a real source of pride for us to beat them out, it's kind of hard to explain). The neatest part was when a little girl around 8 yelled out to me;
"I like your helmet!"
Man, that was nice...

Good lord, I look fat in that photo...
NO, he's not giving me a ticket. He wants to buy either an MB/GPW or an M151, and I was telling him about the G and he was writing it down. It sure looks like he's writing me a ticket though!
Anyway, here's a pic from the previous week's test run. Aside from the round hay bales, it could easily be England in 1944...

My vehicles

Tue Jul 27, 2004 4:34 am

I drive a 2000 Dodge Durango. Last year, I wanted to buy a new SUV, but when the cost of the vehicle, with all the goodies came to upwards of $38,000 I balked. A car should not cost as much as a small house! I walked across the street to the used car lot, and found -first sight- the Durango, which turns out to be twice as much truck as I wanted, for less than half the price of the new one.

Bought with 37,000 miles on it, it has dual a/c, the big V-8 engine, towing package, flared fenders, power everything, dark tinted windows, electronic compass, leather seats and wood panelling inside!

I traded in my 1993 Ford Explorer XLS, which I had bought in 2000 with 30,000 miles on it. Since I travel so darn much, I already had 106,000 miles on it last year, and although perfectly functioning -scheduled maintenance, OEM parts- I wanted a Durango....

I also own a pristine 1978 Chevy Blazer K-5. I spent a ton of money on it (bought from the original owner in 1995, with only 30,000 miles on it) everything is factory, either original or replaced, has no rust and runs like clockwork. I tried to sell it, but no one wanted to pay my price, so I keep it but do not drive it much.

I wish I knew how to post photos here, to share with you my trucks.

I would like to own a BMW-2002-tii some day, harking back to the days of my youth, when I did not have the money to buy a car, but wanted a Beemer so bad!

Saludos!

I've been messing about with a few Jaguars I bought cheap and did up. All my earnings have been going on these and driving lessons. Got 2 1984 XJ6's and a 1986 XJS V12. I'll try and get some pictures up if ever I can figure out how the digital camera with this thing works!!

And Scott, these are for you. I drove these in highschool. All '70 Chevelles. I sold the red Malibu. Bought the Shadow Gray SS 396. It was an automatic with matching #'s and a bench seat (Miss that one the most!). I sold it after about 2 years to buy the Misty Turqouise SS 396. It had a stout NOM 454, a 4-spd, buckets, and a working ZL-2 Cowl Induction hood. Man, I miss all of these cars. They made alot of great memories.

Today, this is what I drive daily: '02 Camaro SS. 345hp LS-1 and a 6-spd

Here's my winter car (Although, it does its fair share of slipping & sliding)

My dad took me to every car show and air show that he could when I was little. It's always been something that we do together. He's the reason that I love muscle cars and warbirds.
