shoveling is futile & snow throwers can't handle the ice here in northern ohio. you could wack a hockey puck across my lawn like it was at a rink!!

Water supply to the house is froze. 12 gallons of drinking water is in the house. Filled buckets with snow and brought in to the house, I put a bucket of snow in each toilet, it sure looks funny with a pile of snow coming out of it.

Winter camping at it's best!

Tom,

As mentioned yesterday, the boys in the neighborhood here (Englewood, Ohio area) are ice skating on the street and sidewalks ....

We received 20" of snow from a storm which pulled out of here yesterday about this time. Now much below normal temps for the forseeable future. No question winters here have been getting colder for the past half dozen years.

I used to love when I lived in Noo Awlunz and it got cold and icy in da Big Easy, everyone from the checkout clerk in the store to the idiots on TV freaking out. Of course the only snow and ice control N.O. has is two winos with salt shakers, cars would stop on the heavily crowned streets (designed for rain runoff) and slide sideways to the curb like the guy on the trike on Laugh-In.

I have a gal friend who lives in Vegas and she said the skiff of snow they had about a week and a half ago blew everyones minds.

The big question is, how many of you paid $200.00 to go stand in the Parking Lot @ Cowperson Stadium on Sunday? Sunny South HUH?

It's 55 degrees here right now!!!!! Sorry Bill, you missed your chance to try the great ski runs of DFW.

Inspector, Everyone here runs to the store and buys up all of the bread, etc. I also did a Whifferdill (180 in my truck) in front of work on Tuesday. On Wednesday I realized why, the road curves with the banking tilting away from the curve. Brilliant engineering! Some engineer spent four years drunk in college to design that.

Here's a hint for stopping and starting on snow and ice for those in normally warmer climes and not used to natures full bounty-step on the clutch or put the tranny in NEUTRAL then squeeze the brakes on don't slam them on . Yes. all four brakes do apply, but the driven wheels are still answering the input from that melted dinosaur processor and trying to keep turning, basic physics. Look a loooonnnnnng way down the road and plan ahead, way ahead. Start from a stop in D2 or second gear normal gear use will cause wheel spin, oh yeah! one last thing-more power will not get you moving, it lets you get the ice under your tires get polished to a high luster. Don't worry about the idiot on your rear bumper, there's nothing you can do about them except be braced for the 'THUMP' and keep your Insurance companies phone # in speed dial.
So far, since Turkey Day I've had 3 1/2 in. wet snow, freezing temps (highs in the mid 20's) for weeks, More snow, 3 inches of frozen hail (like walking on styrofoam sheets but really slick!!) more below freezing days and nights, more snow, it finally warmed up enough to rain and it's now in the mid 40's during the day and high 30's @ night.
I really feel for those of you dealing with this-

Our crazy pup absolutely LOVES playing in the snow. Her ancestors must have lived in the north of Germany!

It's mid-forties in Winterhoma right now. I'd go flying if the ramp in front of the hangar was plowed.

Run your cursor over an airport to get it's latest weather.

I've been watching the temperatures in the Texas panhandle area drop this afternoon. At one time Plainveiw TX was 22F with the wind out of the north gusting to 40mph, while Midland/Odessa, about 150 miles distance, had 65F and winds out of the southeast.
