I feel like I heard through the grapevine that they were getting the nose section to one of the privateers that were out in California in scrap condition that a guy was trying to market to a host of different aviation museums (including ours.) Sure seems that the photographic evidence is pretty good for it being a Privateer nose section; I would sure think that if it were an actual B-24D or even a J nose section, that given the level of information folks here are privy to, we would have heard of its existence at some point earlier.

It will still be neat though. Wonder what B-24 they'll choose to represent?

An article in FlyPast has this as 41-23908....uh isn't that at Hill AFB...quick...somebody go see if the big green thing is out in the hangar

There were at least two 24s flying photo with the name Over Exposed...both with great nose art...which will it be?

PC question will the hula girl's "exposure" have to be covered up...?

Plus, the red stripe on the fuselage equals an ex-'water bomber' Privateer paint job from the ones I have seen.

She is said to have a SN: 41-23908

TAdan- That's the one that I was thinking of! I think there were quite a few parts, and that many of them (including fuselage parts) found their way into the Hill AFB one. The Hill example is a fantastic example of what can be cobbled together from a variety of extant parts to make a really neat looking static example. I think that it is a shame that something similar has not been done to replace the Barksdale or Castle AFB B-24s, to bring them in out of the weather.

In any event the donors father flew the F-7A variant. Both "Over Exposed" flew in the Pacific, one with 2nd Photo the other with 4th Photo.

"020" is an EXCEPTIONAL rendition of the APR45 Varga calendar girl. Hmmm....originally had a white blouse and a Navy officers hat dangling from her foot....PC police will have to be consulted about the blouse...or lack thereof!
