Smoke system for a T-6

I'm looking to add a smoke system on my t-6 and was looking for any advice on which to go with. thanks JH

just do us all a favor and dont use an airframe fire nor exploding engine to produce smoke. I dont wanna be reading about it here.its no fun.

Well I'm looking to see exactly what systems other t-6 owners are using. off the shelf or homemade.

Get in touch with Carl Best. He's got 2 planes with 2 different systems. I call them "dense fog" and "pea soup".

These guys have STC's for systems on Dusters that use the 1340.
By at least using their nozzles and pumps you might ease the burden in getting approval of the FSDO. Parts from an approved system used in a similar system at least will reduce the components you have to make.

How many GPH for a good T-6 system?

When I installed the smoke system on my T-6, I used a fuel boost pump originally used on a Piper Navajo, I think that it was rated at 60 GPH and 35 PSI. I made two nozzles and installed them in the welded over bushings for the engine analyzer probe locations on either side of the exhaust port.

On our harvards, we have a small tank under the passenger/instructor seat with a pony pump (12V for mkII, 24V for MkIV.) and then the line up to the exaust manifold.

The Nozzle is threaded into a welded nut in the exaust manifold where the top and bottom components meet and lead out to the exaust pipe. It's hard to explain without a picture or diagram but the smoke oil basically is injected in to the tail part of the Y in the manifold.

I don't have the schematics or a copy of the certificate, but our Chief of Maintence has those documents.
