Here is a video with a nicely restored Me-109E "Emil" with Daimler engine making a seriously low pass. Shot in slow motion in so sound could not be recorded with the video. I could have dubbed sound but did not as would not "feel" right. I opted for the visuals instead. At normal speed the fly by took about 4 seconds.

So does the Flying Heritage museum make their spectators stand in active construction zones now?

I also add that that's the quietest Me109E I've ever heard.

The only reasons the airplanes matter is what the veterans did with them... and why.

No, what you see in the video is the best part of what's transpired. The construction gear in the foreground was building the brand new airport fire house, and in it's infinite wisdom, they decided it needed to be A) skewered 45 degrees from every other building on the East side of the airport, and B) a Quonset hut design so it really ate up the real estate and the view to the North. Granted, the old fire house was a nasty, old, rat infested, moldy, asbestos filled left over from WW2 USAAF days. The new one sort of hogs the corner from FHC onto Alpha 7, the reason it was located as it is was to 'accommodate the apparatus access to the runways' even though the ramp is pretty wide there, I guess the TONKA TRUCKS don't handle very well even with 3 engines and 8 really big wheel steering.

On FHC 'Fly Days' the fence about 100 yards to the South is opened and folding chairs are made available for spectators on the East edge of taxiway Alpha. IF AGILLENT or HORIZON are ever granted access to KPAE for commercial operations (although the monied ludites who live in Mukilteo are doing a very good job of threatening doom and gloom to the political careers of the elected yabbos in County Government "I have money and I don't like airplane noise") I'll bet the TSA stormtroopers will end that.

I have a Cd recording of the restored "Black 6' starting up and doing some low passes.It was a gift.i used to work in a Ferrari shop in Costa Mesa ,Ca. where the boss had a rather nice stereo system with booming subwoofers..There were speakers along the roof and when you really blasted the sound it seemed like the plane was making overhead passes.One day after work,I really cranked up the volume.The guys in the shop next door all came running out looking for the plane buzzing the building.A couple of cool items on the recording is when they hand crank the engine to start it.You can hear it whine louder and louder until they hit the ignition switch.the other cool thing is you can hear the supercharger scream as it flys overhead.I wouldnt have bought the CD but its kinda cool.
