surprise!!! Ok, it was dark.., i sat down and was instantly wedged in on both sides.., I am not 'heavy' 6'4 and 230 lbs. I knew right off the bat that this felt like a military seat, if memory serves,..,

anyone have an idea out of what aircraft these came from?







the Ace Hotel here in NYC is decorated from the 20's. The lobby is full of retro-furniture and art deco style decorations. This seating is right in line with the look they are trying to achieve.., albeit.., a very uncomfortable LOOK!

Back in the early days of hot rodding they'd often use surplus aircraft seats "bomber seats" for their cars. Very sought after today.
Last summer I was at a car show and I saw a new "Rat Rod" (a hot rod meant to look "old school" and unfinished...the way that a young, moneyless guy would have driven back in the day) and it seemed to have bomber seats.
I asked the guy what they were out of and much to my surprise, he said a 60s Austin Healy Sprite.
He had some old seats and he stripped them for recovering, and underneath was a good looking facisimile of a bomber seat. So he didn't recover them, instead he just put them in his rat rod.

I think not. But that is why I am 'asking the experts' here!

In the third photo you can see in the lower right had corner of the seat is a 'fabric' tab. Very old piece of fabric cable.
Also the legs look like they would bolt onto a 'track' of some sort.

I am thinking military transport seat.

C-45 cabin seat? No provision for harness and no adjusting mechanism or attaching points plus what looks like an info pouch attaching hooks on the upper back side.

The Inspector is correct. They are main cabin seats for post war Beech SNB-5, UC-45J, RC-45J, C-45G, C-45H etc.

Keep in mind that the stencil 'crew weight 200 lbs' meant the pilot wearing ALL HIS GEAR, not the weight of the current pilot bare naked! plus people were smaller 65 years ago.
