I did once see in AC a wartime picture of some fliers who had been rescued at sea; IIRC the rescuer gave up his clothes to a survivor who was badly sunburned or had hypothermia? - the censor had drawn black briefs on the guy.

I don't think I would want to go buff in a warbird...too many pointy objects and sharp edges....bouncing around on a hot humid day...YIKES

My first thought was..."is this a still from "Catch 22"? Then, realizing it was a PBY and probably vintage, got me to thinking, perhaps he was part of the "Gear Crew" that had to wrestle the beaching gear off. Not wanting to go flying in his wet clothes, he just hasn't get dressed yet...pesky guy with camera in his...ahhhh...ummmm...face!

My dad told me how they would fly their B-24s so low in the Pacific Theater, that they would often fly in shorts only because of the heat. Also said how they eliminated the rear turret and they would just have a swivel twin gun mount. Saved weight AND was cooler.
