I have a trophy from my late father that reads "4 th place Bardahl trophy race reno 1967" does anyone know anything about this? Is it airplane or hydroplane boat related?

Do you have a photo? My guess is that it's probably from the air races? I dont think there were any hydro races in Reno?

Air Races for your trophy, the Unlimiteds ran on Lake Mead near lost Wages under many different sponsers including Bill Harrah.
