Well, I finally got my butt in gear for aviation and joined a local EAA chapter in Elmira. I was greeted with welcoming armes and I might be given free A&P lessons and flight lessons. 8) Also a flyable Mig-17 is owned by a member. Which a small shed is being built to hanger it next to the EAA building! :D Other projects include two C-140's, a Navion,, a small scale Nieuport 11, a few homebuilt aircraft, and one Fleet. Not too shabby. :D One of my new friends showed me around the Fleet. If I understood correctly the Fleet doesn't take any oil. After 7 hours or so take the piston covers off to add grease. :?:  Neat. We even have a nice British fella who is a member and did not waste any time teaching me some things on his trips to Japan. 8) :D

Cheers,
Nathan(ex-procrastinator)

How long have you been a member of the EAA? Did you join the same time you joined this chapter or were you already a member?

I just joined EAA Chapter 533.

Thanks Chris and Zack.

Thanks to Bill Greenwood for the inspiration in joining.

Sadly next door is the Wings of Eagles museum. All aircraft are outside :( : F-14, F-4, F-15, B-57, A-26, A-7, OV-1, Westland Whirlwind, Banshee, FH-1 Phantom(of which was sitting on it's tail!! :( ), Huey, and TBM. :( :( No idea where the Douglas BTD and A-37 Dragon are. Neither did any of the EAA members.
