The official announcement comes in about an hour so we will all see. If you go to NASA TV on the web you can watch the announcement live.

The museum here in Tulsa is having a small watch party at the Planetarium to see where they are going. If anyone is in the area, head on out! Announcement in about an hour...

Here's hoping NASA awards one of the shuttles to The Collings Foundation so they can trade it to the NMUSAF for a F-105!

Discovery - NASM
Endevour - LA Science
Enterprise - NYC (Intrepid Museum)
Atlantis - Kennedy Space Center
I think the LA and NYC choices were just terrible.

I agree.

Three on the East coast and one on the West coast?

What happened to the rest of the country?
I really would have liked to see Atlantis go to the NMUSAF.

WOW ! NMUSAF was snubbed !

They were obviously trying to put them in locations where they would be seen by the most "tourists". I agree with Kennedy getting one, but am surprised with the NYC and LA choices.

I was hoping for the NMUSAF so I'd have one within a reasonable driving distance.

A Space Shuttle in NY?????? Really????? I mean WTF?
LA really isn't that bad of an idea. Not far from Edwards so it covers that angle.
I think the Enterprise should go to Dayton IMHO.

I get Kennedy, and can see why the Smithsonian would get one, although why were they the only ones guaranteed one, but LA and NY?? wtf??? This screams of political BS to the highest degree. I'm disgusted to be represented by such morons. No wonder the gov almost shut down and still may, they can't get museum furnishing decisions right.

The decision makes sense, but I'm curious what the Intrepid museum's proposal to house her is. It wouldn't seem feasible or appropriate to build an appropriate structure on deck, and there isn't much room on the adjacent piers. Maybe they have an idea to build out some of the piers and erect a structure to cover both this and the Concorde. That'd be good.

August, the proposal I saw for the Intrepid was a glass hanger built on one of the piers adjacent to the Intrepid. No mention of the Concorde.
I dont really like the idea of the Concorde sitting on a barge to begin with, and I am not thrilled with the idea of either the Enterprise or the Concorde being on the waters edge like that...
http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2010/ ... trepid.jpgShould be interesting to see how they are going to transport a shuttle to LA Science. It looks to be smack in the middle of the city...

They should put one at Epcot Center since NASA is such a Mickey Mouse Operation. The museum in LA seriously? I hope their roof is fixed as they had water leaking on their space craft as posted on another forum. Also it such a big deal that it didn't even make headlines in LA. And I'm not in the least impressed with The Intrepid idea. Of course I was pulling for Wright Pat but I was also pulling for the places that would give them the best care. That did not happen.
