I renewed the site domain names today and on a whim I check some available names that were warbird related. Most of the warbird names like P51mustang.com and such were registered but were basically acquired by companies wanting to flip the domain name for a profit. So I did some checking and decided to register a couple of domain names to prevent them from being acquired though I don't have a firm idea about what to do with them yet. And that is why I am telling the WIX community. What would you suggest to do with t6texan.com and at6texan.com?

I'd use them to sell Viagra. That seems to be what most of the internet is about...

Sorry, nothing useful to add, just my lame attempt at humor which nobody will unterstand.

It's silly ads like that is the main reason I snagged them, it's a shame to see the names go to link farms. The only one I found that was good was pbycatalina.com

The T-6 is, of course, a Boeing product:

http://www.boeing.com/history/bna/t6.htm

Boeing has, at times, asserted trademark rights in names/designators of aircraft that have come into its heritage by way of acquisition. No idea whether they would in a situation like this, but it could be worth bearing in mind.

Scott ~ I'd say keep them in you're electronic virtual hangar and maybe a use will come to you.

Last year I had an idea about developing an application that would allow people to track warbirds using the mode S transponder codes. ( Which is how Planefiner can show you which airliner is flying over your head ) Technically it's possible but ~ warbirds don't tend to spend that long in the air on each flight so ..... what's the point of the "app"?

But I registered the domain name "warbirdapps.com" so it could be used in the future and not be swallowed by some games company.

As it turns out ~ I'm now using the name for a Group on Facebook ~ secure in the knowledge I've got the domain name in my pocket

You don't see a point of the app? I see points. Let me try some out on you.

Program the app with a database of active warbirds. It wouldn't need to be a big database, just of the few hundred warbirds anyone cares about. Offer to update it periodically (revenue stream). The device pings you when one of them is in the air. Cool, Glacier Girl's flying! Or it can tell you what flew and where over the past few days, or what's the last known location. Helpful for spotters and for those wondering what is traveling to their local airshow this weekend.

Use the geolocator function to ping the user when there's a warbird movement within 50 or 100 miles. The user could access flight plan data either through the app or separately on flightaware to find out where it's come from and where it's going. Ooh, there's a B-25 inbound to my local airport, maybe I'll run out there and try to catch it.

Good idea for an app I think. I'd buy it.
